Informative and visually interesting, this book presents an excellent guide to bears, describing their habitats, family life, and behavior, as well as the ways in which they are perceived in human culture and the ecological forces that make the species' survival ever more precarious. The numerous sidebars highlight human interest items as well as the cultural and ecological relationships between bears and humans. An easy read.
